Writer and Digital Content Specialist

Chatham University is accepting applications for a Digital Content Specialist/Writer. The Digital Content Specialist/Writer is a creative and strategic marketer and writer who creates compelling copy and digital content across Pulse@ChathamU, social media, video, and e-mail that is aligned with the overall brand positioning, business objectives and student needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and write engaging stories for Pulse@ChathamU, Chatham's "story & news center" website, and other special brand and content engagement initiatives.
  • Write and develop Chatham's regular Pulse eNewsletter for the campus community, alumni, friends & family, and prospective students.
  • Assist in the creation of original content for Chatham's social media channels while also serving as back-up for management of social media channels.
  • Create and assist with copy for other video or writing projects as needed and assigned.
  • Conduct thorough research and interviews.
  • Edit and proofread copy as needed.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects with short deadlines.
  • Collaborate with other team members on idea generation and shared projects.
  • Travel as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of one-to-two years of experience in writing and digital marketing in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment at a marketing/communications department, in an agency environment, or equivalent freelance experience.
  • Higher education experience is a plus.
  • Strong command of language, grammar and punctuation is required.
  • Must be flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while successfully managing multiple timelines and projects.
  • Must have a portfolio of produced marketing and communication concept and writing examples, or a portfolio of equivalent produced freelance writing and work samples.
